Participants HODEG

The participants of “HODEG” are 9 Japanese companies, one Canadian and one Russian company.

Japanese participants are all members of the Cold Region Port and Harbour Engineering Research Center, located in Sapporo, which is a semi-governmental union of building community having special interest to construction in northern regions in Japan and abroad.

As can be seen below, Japanese participants HODEG represent different regions of Hokkaido prefecture, they are engaged in all kinds of construction activities, architecture, design, provide engineering and consulting services.

Most of Japanese participants were established as entities after the war. Their leaders remember the post-war period and heard a lot from their parents; they perceive Sakhalin with great sympathy, and focus on good-neighborly friendship and cooperation.

Iwakura Construction Co., Ltd. – the largest shareholder of “HODEG”.

Hideki Miyazaki, President of Iwakura construction, met with leaders of Sakhalin Administration (governors and vice-governors level) several times – on April 24,2013 in Tokyo at the Presentation of the Sakhalin Region, on September 07, 2013, in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on the 15th anniversary of the signing of the Agreement on friendship and Cooperation, on November 21? 2013, in Sapporo during the visit of Sakhalin Business mission to Hokkaido, on September 18, 2014, in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, during the visit for ceremony of laying the first stone in the Garden of Russian-Japanese friendship.

In 1998 “Iwakura Construction” purchased and donated to the city of Tomakomai the Russian space station “Mir”.

The leading Japanese partner of “HODEG” for designing is Docon — the largest Architecture and Design bureau in Hokkaido.

Docon was established in 1960 and during 55 years has become a major architectural, design and surveying, engineering and consulting organization. Docon provides services for public construction works not only in Hokkaido but also in other regions of Japan. It has offices in Tokyo, Sendai, Yokohama, Nagoya, Hakodate, Asahikawa, Kushiro. During last 10 years Docon implemented a number of foreign projects, including several in Russian Federation.

The core Docon is 500 professional designers and engineers with higher education. Docon provides design, engineering and consulting services in the areas of transportation, marine and river construction, urban planning of cities and rural settlements, architecture, agriculture, simulation of geological conditions and the impact of natural disasters, environmental protection and management, research and development, etc.

Docon provides engineering services also to developing countries via channels of Official development assistance (ODA) for many years.

With great interest Docon works over different Sakhalin projects: completed the concept of “Gorny Vozduh” Ski resort (2007), the concept of the Multifunctional center in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (2014), the Landscaping design for a residential village “Pear Garden”, the concept of landscaping around the office of “Exxon Neftegas Limited”, delivered the Report for planning environment at a seminar on the development of small towns of Sakhalin, implemented the design for construction of the “Hokkaido Center” office building and the Garden of the Russian-Japanese friendship, etc.
